Meeting on the 1-10-11

YES Troop 664 we will have the Knights Hall open for a meeting on Monday the 10th.
I know that many of you will be watching the National Championship game and cheering on the Ducks!!
But the show will go on.. no harm.. no foul if you are not at the meeting.. I totally understand.  We meet on Monday's.. and the next one will be the following Monday.
This will NOT be a training meeting, so if you choose to watch the game, you will not be excluded from the camp out.

DECEMBER 20th Meeting

The Patrol Leaders Council will meet at 7:35 PM on Monday the 20th.  The PLC has decided to move the PLC meetings to the LAST WEDNESDAY of every month (except for this month).
The PLC meeting is very important and all Patrol Leaders and Troop Guides need to be there.

The 20th, the Troop will begin Cold Weather training for the January camp out.  We will be talking about clothing and how to dress for success in the Cold.

A FEW REMINDERS

First:  If you plan on working the Citizenship Merit Badges.. World, Nation, and Community - the counselor will be at the Knights Hall from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM this coming Saturday.  DO NOT BE LATE or you will have to reschedule.
Next:  The Troop will be setting up the Manger in the back of the Church on Sunday the 19th.  We will meet at the Knights Hall at 12:00.
Finally:  There will be NO TROOP MEETING on Monday the 27th, the Monday after Christmas.

Take care of your sleeping bag

I found this good video on sleeping bag care.  Since we are not camping again till January, I thought it would be a good idea to share this.  I just washed mine, I want it to last me for years, so I need to take good care of it.

Upcoming in December

December 4th-
Scouting for Food- Come to a meeting and we will tell you when to be there.
Troop Holiday Potluck
Lock in - game night.  Details at the next meeting.

George is looking for help with his Eagle Project this coming weekend and the weekend of the 4th.  If you are interested come to the next meeting and talk to George.

We will be meeting right up to Christmas week.
December 19th we will be setting up the Manger in the back of the Church.
We will NOT meet on the 20th of December.

If you plan on camping with the Troop in January and February you MUST Attend the next two months Troop meetings.  If you fail to make it to the training, you can not go.  Talk to Scoutmaster if you have issues.

Camp Lewis.. Amazing Race Camp out

The Amazing Race camp out was a huge success!  The Scouts did a fantasitc job and had a lot of fun.

Once again I am proud of all of the Scouts of Troop 664.  Congratulations to John and George for winning the race.  They demonstratee good teamwork, skills, communication, and a winning attitude!

Annual Planning Session and Troop JLT

The Annual Planning Session and Troop Junior Leader Training will be held on September 21-22 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Knights Hall.
This is our opportunity to plan for the coming year and get the Junior Leaders Trained to execute the Troops plan.
If you are planning on being a Junior Leader in the Troop for the coming year, you must attend this important session.
If you want input in the plan (Adults Not Welcome) then I would suggest you attend also.

The next camp out will be at Royce Finel.  We will have a blast out there, as we always do.

Gear Checklist

Winter Camping Gear Check list
This checklist is optimized for winter trips in mountain environments where high/low temperatures will range from 20°F to -30°F. Adjust for the conditions you'll face.

Outerwear
waterproof/breathable jacket
waterproof/breathable pants
synthetic or softshell hiking pants
insulated parka or down jacket
insulated pants
waterproof gaiters

Baselayer 
midweight or lightweight long john top
midweight or lightweight long john bottoms
long sleeve T-shirt NOT COTTON
synthetic briefs

Accessories
wool or fleece hat
balaclava
synthetic liner gloves
midweight insulated ski gloves (2 pair of gloves)
Hat
bandanna

Footwear
waterproof hiking or snowshoeing boots (insulated is best)
wool or synthetic socks (one pair for every day or two, plus an extra pair for sleeping only)
liner socks

**You need to be able to change socks twice a day
Gear
backpack
convertible or four-season tent
sleeping bag
(-30° to 15°F)
sleeping pad
collapsible snow shovel
trekking poles
Stove
lighter and waterproof matches
cookset
eating utensils, bowl, and insulated mug
headlamp w/extra batteries and bulb

Consider
metal tray or lid for firebuilding
Extra foam pad to sit on.. small piece of a foam pad to put stove on.
